30 Nov Bodycare for busy mommies…
To be honest, I have often skipped applying lotion post-shower (I’m lazy!)… Tigo would be so shocked because he has his baby lotion applied twice a day, every day, without fail!!
Since I shared with you my beauty routine (for the face) last week, I got some messages on what body lotion to use. As religious as I am with the 10-step skincare for the face, I’m a disaster when it comes to taking care of my body. I usually hoard tons of body moisturisers, only to forget to use them. Having kids and being busy are not to blamed because I have always been super lazy when it comes to applying body lotion / moisturiser.
My dermatologist totally changed the game when she gave me a tip on how to get around that problem! She is also a mother (to three boys) and she understands how taking care of your body can become one of the last things on your To Do list, but with these products, you really should not have any excuse because they are so easy and does not require extra steps!
For the shower
This product, Dermol 200 Shower Emollient, can be used in the shower as a soap / normal shower gel substitute, or as a moisturiser post-shower if you so wish. After washing, the skin should be patted instead of rubbed dry to avoid rubbing off the oil. For someone who hates applying lotion after washing like me, this is godsent! The one issue (maybe two) that I have is that the bottle does not look good on your bath shelf and it does not have any scent so I often apply it after my Jo Malone Red Rose Shower Gel. If you are fine with that and don’t have lots of time of your hand, you can use it alone as a shower gel substitute.
For the bath
Another product that my dermatologist recommended was Cetraben Ointment. This can be used at a bath additive by melting a teaspoonful in hot water, and dissolving that in the bath. This works wonders as I seriously don’t feel the dryness in my skin anymore, especially on these cold days!
Those days when I feel like pampering myself, I will use my Clarins (recommended to me by a nurse at Portland which helps with restoring my skin post-pregnancy) or Jo Malone post-shower!
At the end of the day, products are only effective if you do use them! So it matters more to be consistent. I really noticed a shift in my body skin when I started using these products, so I hope you will find these products helpful too!
On a slightly related topic, I got another shipment from my dermatologist today for Environ products (which I praised so much in the previous post about skincare!) and as you can see, I ordered some body products too. The second pregnancy was particularly tougher on my body as the skin under the belly was really damaged and I had severe pigmentation! I hope these products will help lighten them up, will report back to you when I’m done testing!
Hope everyone will have a great weekend! Tigo will remind me to use these products now…
